Living in Chicago has it’s perks, but being on Lake Michigan is certainly on the top of that list. There are so many different things to do along the lakefront, and although we’ve done most of them over the years while living here, we hope to hit up this bucket list this summer.
This spring we’ve had some awesome weather, and yesterday was exceptionally nice with temps over 70 degrees and sunny skies. Picnics happen to be another one of our most favorite activities, so we decided to grab a blanket, our favorite sandwiches and salad from Pastoral, a bottle of wine hidden in our S’well water bottle (which holds an entire bottle of wine and can keep it cold for up to 12 hours, by the way) and head east.
Pastoral is the cutest little cheese shop that has a wide variety of savory goods. I could literally be in there for days trying all the different cheeses and meats. There’s four locations in Chicago (Andersonville, Lakeview, The Loop and The French Market), which makes it preeeeetty convenient any time you need a fix. Yesterday we stopped at the Lakeview location and ordered:
- Health Nut Salad with seasonal greens, podda cheese, avocado, spiced almonds, cucumber
- Salumi Piccante with calabrese salami, podda cheese, giardiniera, greens, mayo on baguette
- BLTA with prosciutto bacon, tomato jam, avocado, greens, mayo on sourdough
- Rayun Sauvignon Blanc
It was all so delicious! Looking forward to many more nights just like this on the lake. 🙂
